Our school was founded in April 2022.We have been engaged in “Exploration Frontier” exploration activities throughout the year (“The Natural Environment and Us,” “Let’s Improve Our Exploration Skills,” “Our Community – Nara – – Rediscovering Nara Park from an SDGs Perspective,” “Our Better Life (each with the theme of “-Considering the ‘Ideal House'”).
In this project, we are using p5.js to express our various findings and personal growth gained through the year-long exploration activities in media art. p5.js is taught by expert and youth mentors who act as facilitators in addition to the school’s faculty members, allowing us to express our own images as media art works. In addition to the school’s faculty, professional mentors and youth mentors were on hand to help us to express our own images as media artworks. Although some of us had learned Scratch in our elementary school programming classes, this was the first time for most of us to work with p5.js. We tried to express our ideas about Nara’s forests and forestry, the deer and dung beetles we learned about during their fieldwork in Nara Park, the Kasuga-yama Primeval Forest, a World Heritage Site, and our “ideal house,” which we came up with in our groups.
We will present the current work at a presentation in early March to reflect on our year-long exploratory activities.
