Born in Germany, studied physics and mathematics, and received his PhD in astronomy from the University of Heidelberg. He is currently doing research in geometry, mechanics, and interactive 3D visualization. Combining science, art and design, he was in charge of creating a large-scale, dynamic sculpture at OIST in Okinawa, Japan in 2021. He is also exploring projects that cross the borders of science and music, having studied various types of music from an early age.
As a musician, he studied violin from an early age and began playing drums in his teens. During his college years, he studied jazz drumming and the piano music of J.S. Bach, and played in jazz, funk, and other avant-garde music bands. Recently, he has also studied guitar and singing and is fascinated by electronic music, especially synthesizers and “living instruments”.
