Using p5.js, we challenged ourselves to convey the appeal of weightlifting to a wider audience. Weightlifting has a problem that the number of competitors is decreasing every year. Therefore, we challenged ourselves to combine a cartoon character with weightlifting to spread the sport in a way that only we could do. We employed dot-drawings to create a cartoon character, which was a delicate and steady process. As a result, what we wanted to express became clear and the production progressed nicely. Next, we began work on the animation production. Here, we devised a way to combine the characters and the competition. The character holds a barbell, the symbol of weightlifting, and by clicking a button, the character grows. We worked under the supervision of Nakajima-sensei to reflect this action in the animation, and worked to improve our technique. In this production, we were able to utilize the technology we had and complete the project. In our next production, we would like to contribute to the promotion of weightlifting by using more specialized and advanced techniques.
